What is form ID2?
Form ID2 is used to support applications to HM Land Registry where identity verification is required for a company or corporate body. This commonly applies where a company is involved in a property transaction or Land Registry application and is not represented by a conveyancer.
At ID Verification Online, we can complete the ID2 verification process remotely by WhatsApp video call. Where verification is carried out remotely, we will also complete form ID5.
What you need ready before your ID2 appointment
During the appointment, which will take place by WhatsApp video call, the person being verified will need to show either one of the following:
- Current valid passport;
- Current UK, EU, Isle of Man or Channel Islands driving licence;
- Current Biometric Residence Permit issued by the UK Home Office.
Alternatively, the person being verified will need to show two of the following, but no more than one of each type:
- Credit card issued in the UK, supported by a postal account statement no more than 3 months old;
- A postal utility bill dated within the last 3 months;
- Council Tax bill for the current year;
- Council rent book showing the rent paid for the last 3 months;
- Postal mortgage statement for the year just ended;
- Current firearms or shotgun certificate.
You do not need to send us copies of your ID documents before the appointment. However, during the call we will take screenshots of the ID documents, which we are required to retain.
If the required documents are not available during the appointment, we will not be able to complete the verification.
Information needed for the Land Registry application
Because form ID2 is used to support an application to HM Land Registry, we will also need:
- The type of application, such as a transfer, mortgage, easement or other Land Registry application;
- The address of the property to which the application relates;
- The Land Registry title number, if available.
If you are not sure about the type of application or do not have the title number, we can discuss this during the appointment.
Personal and company details required for form ID2
We will need to confirm the personal details of the person being verified, together with the relevant company details.
Personal details
- Your full name;
- Your date of birth;
- Your current address;
- Your previous address or addresses, if you have moved in the last 5 years;
- Your telephone number.
Company details
- The name of the company making the application;
- The registered company number;
- The registered office address;
- Your connection to the company, such as director or secretary.
What happens during the ID2 video appointment?
We will start by asking you to confirm the relevant personal, company and application details. We will complete the forms as we progress through the call.
We will then take a screenshot of you holding your ID documents. Both you and the documents must be clearly visible. If you are using two forms of ID, we may need to take two screenshots.
We are required to retain these images indefinitely.
What happens after the appointment?
After the appointment, we will print forms ID2 and ID5. We will sign and date the ID5 and post both documents to you.
You will need to sign the ID2. You can then combine the forms and submit them to HM Land Registry with your application.
Important points about ID2 and ID5 forms
- You will need a separate ID2 and ID5 for each officer of the company who is executing the deed to be submitted for registration;
- If there are other unrepresented parties, an ID2 or ID1, together with an ID5, may be needed for each of them;
- You cannot reuse the forms, as they relate to a specific application and cannot be used for multiple applications;
- The forms, including the ID5 which we date, must be no more than 3 months old on the day you submit your application to HM Land Registry.
Please bear this in mind if you are not ready to submit your application when you make the appointment.
